Sir Keir is now 13/8 from 4/1 to replace Mr Johnson, with the Prime Minister going from 20/1 to 6/1 to step down by end of 2020.

Betting firm BoyleSports received significant support following the Prime Minister’s speech on COVID-19.

On Monday morning, punters requested odds on who will replace Boris Johnson, should he step down, and all the support was for the leader of the Labour Party, Keir Starmer.

The British politician was initially introduced at 4/1 to be the one to move into Number 10, but those odds took a hammering this morning as he is now the 13/8 favourite.

Boris Johnson was as big as 20/1 to step down as Prime Minister by the end of 2020 but following his speech on Sunday evening, the former Mayor of London is now just 6/1.

Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak is 5/1 to replace Johnson, while First Secretary of the State Dominic Raab is the 16/1 third favourite.

Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Boris Johnson addressed the nation on Sunday, revealing the government's plans to relax lockdown restrictions, as Britain prepares for phase two.

“But some punters are reluctant to get behind the PM as it’s 6/1 from 20/1 that Johnson will step down by the end of the year. Keir Starmer is the current 13/8 favourite to replace him, cut from 4/1.”
