Epworth’s celebration of 800 years since the signing of the Magna Carta takes place in June.

But this weekend the Epworth Magna Carta 800 Society is hosting an open meeting for all interested people to attend and get involved. It will be from 10am to 2pm on Saturday in St Andrew’s Parish Church, Epworth.

Events throughout Epworth are scheduled to begin on Wednesday 3 June until Sunday 7 June 2015. The official opening will be on Thursday 4 June 2015 at 10am.

Any support from organisations, local businesses, groups and residents would be welcomed by the Society to enable engagement around the Isle of Axholme. The open day is to raise awareness, get feedback from the community and encourage support of the event.

For more information about the open meeting contact the project leader Linnie Burnham on 01427 873898 or emaillinnie.burnham@homecall.co.uk.

Coun Liz Redfern, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council said: “We have been working closely with the Epworth Magna Carta 800 Society to offer our support in commemorating the 800th year anniversary. They have got some great ideas, but they are looking for input from residents and businesses to make sure it has a real community spirit. If you would like to share your ideas, provide any services or resources then go along to the meeting. The Society will appreciate any support that can be given to help make the anniversary celebrations a success. So, please do come along next Saturday and hopefully you will be inspired to become really involved and help create more choices.”
