Join health boosting activities near you

Leisure activities are to be launched across the Isle and North Lincolnshire, in a bid to improve people’s mental and physical health.

North Lincolnshire Council hopes to encourage people back into sport as just a third of residents currently meet recommended guidelines for physical activity.

Staying active has been shown to help lift your mood, reduce stress, and enable you to deal with negative emotions, anxiety and depression.

Running, cycling, badminton, netball, football, boot camps, buggy fitness and plenty of other choices including multi-sport sessions will occur on a regular basis.

Coun Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for customerservices, sport and leisure at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “There is lots you can get involved in and you are never too old to start. Many people for one reason or another no longer take regular exercise and are missing out on the many benefits it brings.

“I’m a keen cyclist and regularly bike to work and feel so much better for it. You feel more alert and have a general sense of wellbeing.

“Exercise can be fun, so get involved and improve your health now.”
