THE first ever careers and jobs event attended by scores of people from across the Isle has been hailed as a huge success by the Leader of North Lincolnshire Council Liz Redfern.
Eighty-five businesses, 1,600 students, and almost 1,000 visitors attended the council staged event at Forest Pines in Broughton on Monday.
Big name companies including Siemens, Sainsbury’s, John Leggott College and Humberside Fire and Rescue Service were all in attendance.
The event was split into two sessions – the first for young people and the second open to the general public to attend.
Free ‘get that job’ training sessions were held and the council put on free buses so those without transport wouldn’t miss out.
It gave people the chance to meet potential employers face to face and see if there are any training or job opportunities.
Coun Liz Redfern said: “What a fantastic day – a great turnout and great support.
”This was the first event of its kind. And it won’t be the last. Because it was such a huge success, we are going to run this as an annual event. So anyone who missed out yesterday can contact us to get their name on the list for next year’s event.”
