James – famous for hits such as Come Home, Laid and Sit Down – are headlining the annual Music in the Gardens concert series this year.

The Rotarian-run event started life 12 years ago as one night of jazz in a marquee and has grown into a major charity fundraiser, raising more than £250,000 since it began.

Andrew Bates, one of the event organisers, said: “We have staged some great acts over the years, but James has to be our best catch to date.

“We will ensure the gig is remembered for years to come as a classic event.”

James will open the event this year, performing on Thursday, June 30, followed the next night by The Feeling.

The band, famous for songs such as Never Be Lonely and Sewn, have just released their fifth studio album, called The Feeling.
