THE 65th Epworth and District Agricultural Show proved to be another raging success, the weather was kind and local folk turned out in force.

The Bank Holiday Monday event saw young and old alike enjoy the traditional family event with sheep, horses, dog handling, live music, trades stands, horticulture, fairground rides, dancing displays, vintage vehicles and much, much more.

Proving that the event has something for everyone was Deborah Ganley of Beltoft, who attended the show with her husband, two children, uncle and grandfather - ages ranging from four to 91-years-old!

She told the Bells/Advertiser: “We’ve been coming to the show for the last seven years since we moved to the area from Sheffield.

“It’s a real good family day with lots to see and do and gives you the chance to catch up with friends.”

Special guest Titan the Robot proved to be another massive hit with the crowds, the “8ft of steaming loveliness” was again fascinating, intimidating and thoroughly enjoyable all at the same time.

His Michael Buble and “Cry Me A River” saw the audience get soaked, he interacted with a lady in red to sing the Chris De Burgh classic, and he even attempted to woo Epworth town councillor Liz Fennell, asking her back to his lair to listen to some Des O’Connor!

North Lincolnshire Council member, David Robinson said: “It was great to see so many people enjoying all the attractions. Epworth Show really does offer something for everyone and Councillor Liz Redfern and I, like so many others, thoroughly enjoyed the day.”

It was a successful day for Foxisle Gun Dogs owned by Miss Tina Gray and Eddie Cumberland who achieved a special rosette for their Puggle (a pug and beagle cross). Fifteen week old Lulu achieved the award having been shown off to the judges by six-year-old Liv Carey from Ealand.

NLC mayor, Coun Keith Vickers said: “We were very impressed by the entries in the horticultural marquee and we were delighted to present the trophy to the livestock winner. The standard of entries was very high. Also, Titan the robot entertained the crowds with a spectacular display.

“The whole event has something for everyone. Well done to all concerned.”
