Isle residents warned to keep car keys safe

Police are warning motorists to be vigilant after 15 cars were taken following burglaries were car keys were taken since Friday April 3.

The majority of the offences have occurred overnight and the offenders have entered homes through unlocked doors or windows before taking car keys along with other items of property.

The keys have then been used to steal the cars parked close by.

Humberside Police would like to take this opportunity to remind householders to always lock and secure their homes, especially at night and to store car keys in a safe place. NEVER hang keys on the inside of a door and NEVER leave keys on show or in an obvious place.

If anyone sees anything suspicious please contact the police immediately, we want to catch those responsible, and with the help of the public reporting anything out of the ordinary we hope to catch them before anyone else becomes a victim.
