Isle residents wanting a change of career or taking their first step into the jobs market are invited to an employment event.

The North Lincolnshire Careers Event is taking place on Tuesday, October 15, at The Baths Hall in Scunthorpe.

More than 2, 500 people attended last year’s event to see 68 different exhibitors.

This year’s is expected to be even bigger with around 90 exhibitor stands and the launch of the next apprenticeship jobs at the council.

Throughout the day 1,600 Year 11 pupils from all secondary schools and academies in North Lincolnshire will be attending.

It will be open to members of the public from 3.30pm to 7pm, with last entry at 6pm.

Visitors will be able to speak face-to-face with a range of businesses at the event and ask them any questions.

Councillor Liz Redfern, leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This year’s event is going to be even bigger than last year’s event with more businesses getting involved.

“Finding the right career or knowing where to start can be very time consuming, so by having a range of businesses, colleges, universities and recruitment agencies all in one place, it makes the process a great deal easier.

“You will be able to find everything from apprenticeships and college courses to careers advice and guidance.

It’s an ideal way to find out what opportunities are out there. It’s essential that we provide continual support for local people and this event will be very beneficial for many people.”

She added: “There will be a great deal of advice and guidance on offer to point people in the right direction and give them a step onto the career ladder - whether they are leaving school or looking for a new career.

“Pop along to the event and take your next steps on the career ladder.

“There will plenty of invaluable guidance and advice on offer.”
