Collective switching offers households the opportunity to sign-up to a scheme that allows the council to enter an auction with energy companies on their behalf, to secure a discounted energy price.

Councillor John Briggs, cabinet member for Asset Management, Culture and Housing, said: “Many people are paying too much for their energy and rising fuel bills are a real concern. Some people have been reluctant to switch suppliers because they are not sure how to or don’t have time to compare the different tariffs. With collective switching, we do all the hard work for you; making it safe and easy to switch. The more people that register, the cheaper the bills will be.

“Many residents have highlighted the great savings to be made and how simple the switching process is.”

The scheme is run in partnership with iChoosr Ltd, the UK’s leading provider of collective switching.

It is free to register on the scheme. Registration is open now and the auction will take place in February.

You have until February 1 2016 to register for the scheme online. The auction will then take place on 2 February, offers will be issued on 12 February and the scheme will close on March 14 .
