Isle primary schools performing well

The Department of Education has released Key Stage 2 statistics for 2015 across the country, with North Lincolnshire pupils showing improved results for the fourth year running.

In 2015, 78 per cent of 11 year-olds achieved the expected level of attainment (level four or above) in each of reading, writing and maths. This is a three per cent improvement on 2014 and an eight per cent improvement on results of four years ago.

North Lincolnshire also beat the regional Yorkshire and Humber average for the first time.

On September 1, 2012, 64 per cent of primary age children attended good or outstanding schools in North Lincolnshire. By the end of the last academic year this had improved by 13 per cent to 77 per cent.

There are currently no primary schools in North Lincolnshire that are judged by Ofsted to be inadequate, within their ratings.

Coun David Rose, cabinet member for Children’s Services within North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is fantastic news. Well done to all the staff in schools and pupils on your continued hard work. It really has paid off.

“We have seen improvements year on year and for the first time have beaten the regional average – this is definitely something to be proud of.”

He continued: “Our primary schools in North Lincolnshire work extremely hard to ensure that a high standard of education is provided and pupils achieve to the best of their ability.

“The council is fully committed to investing in primary education and is determined to make further improvements.

“We will continue to offer our support to schools to ensure that all primary education provided in North Lincolnshire is the best that it can be.”
