Isle groups benefit from cash grants

Groups, events and individuals in the Isle have benefited from shares of £180,000 Community Grant funding from North Lincolnshire Council.

The incredibly successful Rescue Day at Crowle received £5000 to help with delivery, and the Isle of Axholme Horticultural Society was awarded £1,180 to help with the cost of an annual show and speaker within the Revenue Grant Programme for community groups.

Within the Community Capital Grant Programme, the Epworth Bowls Club received £430 towards a new sprayer, Epworth Imperial Hall got £7,920 to help with building improvements, and Epworth Town Council was handed £14,585 to help provide new and extra play equipment for eight to 15 year olds at Kings Head Croft. This was what youngsters themselves had asked for, as other provision was only for much younger children.

Coun Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for customer services, sport and leisure, said: “In North Lincolnshire we have some fantastic groups that really do a lot towards helping to improve their community, and it’s something that we as a council are certainly willing to support.

“Not only does the Community Grant Fund support individuals, it supports all community groups, from clubs to charities to community buildings. It helps individuals to achieve the best of their ability and helps towards making community groups stronger.”
