Reins of Elegance is a firm which sprang to life in South Ewsters - between Owston Ferry and West Butterwick - 13 years ago offering horse and carriage transport for weddings, funerals and school proms.

Owners Matthew Dodge, 48, and Sheree Pettinger, 56, decided that make their future business even more secure they should branch out and so their new concept was born.

The company now offers excursions around the Isle, Matthew explained: “Between us, we have worked with horses in many disciplines such as show jumping, hunting, cross country, private driving, showing and pleasure driving. We’ve been running the horse and carriage business since 2000, and now we want to offer rides in the countryside.

“There are lots of things and places to show people around the Isle. It could be for taking families out for parties, red letter days or maybe just something different to do on a weekend.”

The pair have 11 horses and mainly use the large black Friesian breed. Matthew added: “We have three different kinds of wedding carriages plus other vehicles which we can take people out on.”
