Firefighters continue with their attempts to dampen the inferno at the premises in the Carr Hill area, which borders the main rail route into town from the south.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue confirmed eight engines and one aerial pump had been dispatched to the blaze which began late on Monday evening.

Balby Carr Bank has been closed in both directions at the roundabout with Woodfield Way and also at the Carr Hill industrial area.

The affected premises are part of the J3 Business Park to the rear of the building which houses One Call Insurance, adjacent to White Rose Way.

Smoke from the fire can be seen from several miles away, including across the M18 as it is blown towards the south.

Local residents have been advised to keep windows closed while the public has been asked to avoid the area.
