The Bishop of Grimsby the Right Revd Dr David Court will perform a licensing service on Thursday January 22 at 2.30pm to officially welcome the Revd Harry Smart, who joined Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust last summer.

As well as this the service will dedicate new furnishings and a special memorial book and cabinet that has been purchased for parents to record their baby or child’s name after they have died in hospital.

The Revd Charles Thody, lead chaplain for the Trust, said: “The service will be one of celebration, officially welcoming a new chaplain to the team as well as dedicating new furnishings which have been bought thanks to charitable donations.”

Mr Thody said: “We have a memorial book in the chapel for adults to be remembered when they have died in hospital but we didn’t have one for babies and children. The Lincolnshire Association of Construction Engineers very kindly donated the money to allow us to have a cabinet specially manufactured for a new memorial book.

“The Royal Voluntary Service also kindly donated a new altar frontal, a lectern cover, as well as wall banners to add a splash of colour to the chapel. We are delighted with these and many people have said how they bring some life into the chapel.”

The Revd Thody added: “People are welcome to pop along to the licensing service where they will be able to see the new furnishings in the chapel.”
