A Denaby-based help group for the homeless and drug users is appealing for volunteers to help re-launch its drop-in centre. Former councillor Tony Sellars is holding an open day at the Conisbrough and Denaby Drug Awareness Group tomorrow (Friday March 2) which is situated in the community rooms under the Catholic Club, on Wadworth Street.
The centre has been run in a variety of venues since 2004 and offers advice and a warm meal to drug users, encouraging them with detox and counselling and help in finding jobs.
Mr Sellars said: “We are looking for helpers who are non-judgemental to help people using the project.
“We want people who can shop for food, and if possible cook, if they have a hygiene certificate. Also people who can offer benefit advice etc. We can offer full training if it is needed”.
The open day starts at 10.30am.
