Historic Doncaster town centre building to go under hammer

The four-storey building on St Sepulchre Gate West is more than 100 years old and was formerly a clothier and furnishing store.

It was formerly the premises of JW Hallidays Clothiers and Drapers and was still there in the 1960s as Brookfield and Halliday.

The building next door, on the left, was the premises of well known Doncaster photographer Luke Bagshaw who took both photos and is renowned across the town for his chronicling of local history through his thousands of photographs in the early part of the last century.

The building has been vacant for a number of years, is now boarded up and is in need of full refurbishment.

Auctioneers Barnsdales say the property would also suit conversion to residential, subject to obtaining the necessary planning permissions.

A spokesman said: "Whilst currently in a sorry state, the property is an old and historic landmark building with some attractive architectural features to the front façade.

"The property is crying out for a new buyer to breath some life back into the building."
