A Doncaster stop smoking service will be in two hospitals in the borough encouraging mums-to-be to quit smoking this October.

Staff from Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH) will be promoting Stoptober - which encourages people to seek help to stamp out the habit.

The team will launch the Stoptober campaign in the Women’s Hospital at Doncaster Royal Infirmary on Wednesday, October 1 and on Thursday October 2 at Mexborough Montagu. The team will also be at the two hospitals throughout the month of October.

The team will also be distributing ‘how to stop smoking’ leaflets at Children’s Centres in Doncaster - encouraging mums to seek support to stop smoking.

Amanda Capper, of the stop smoking service, said: “We know that if you can stop smoking for 28 days you are five times more likely to stay smokefree, and Stoptober leads smokers through a detailed step-by-step programme to help them achieve this goal.”
