PATIENTS awaiting discharge from Doncaster Royal Infirmary now have a new lounge to relax in while they wait for medication or transport home.
The £135,000 discharge lounge is open between 8am and 8.30pm Monday to Friday and can seat up to 17 patients.
As well as two seating areas, the lounge also has beds for male and female patients who are being discharged to nursing homes or who are being transferred to other hospitals. All adult-based clinical services at Doncaster Royal Infirmary uses the new facility.
Hilary Bond, nursing and quality director, said the creation of the lounge meant that new admissions to the hospital could get a bed much quickly.
