Isle MP Andrew Percy, has welcomed additional Government funding of over £1m for North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals Trust, to help with winter planning.
The money will help support local hospitals, including those that serve Isle residents, during the difficult winter period.
One of the pressures on A and E during the period is flu and for the first time, young children aged two and three will be offered the innovative nasal spray vaccine to protect them against the virus.
The funding is in addition to the Government’s £12bn NHS funding commitment over the five years of this Parliament.
Andrew Percy said: “The NHS comes under considerable pressure during the winter period. This is in addition to the increased demand we experience throughout the year, compared to a decade ago. With people living longer and healthier lives that demand is only going to increase.
“The Government are increasing funding nationally by over £12bn and it’s welcome news that our local hospitals will get an extra million pounds of support over the winter period.”
