BARNSLEY Hospital is celebrating being accredited as an ‘Investor in People’ organisation for 16 years in a row.
‘Investors in People’ recognises organisations for developing and improving its performance through the staff who work there.
An independent assessment, conducted through interviews with staff from across the hospital in December 2011 concluded that staff are dedicated and loyal and want to offer the best service possible to patients.
The assessment highlighted that despite being in a period of organisational and cultural change in the NHS, Barnsley Hospital continues to improve the appraisal process of its staff and introduced new ways to reward people through monthly staff awards.
Chief Executive Paul O’Connor said: “It’s wonderful to have achieved accreditation for Investors in People 16 years in a row, demonstrating how people - staff and patients really are the core of this hospital.
“Some of the areas where we received praise include staff genuinely feeling their line managers were doing a good job.”
