Local GPs are urging their patients to order their repeat prescriptions before the bank holiday weekend.
Most GP surgeries will be closed on Monday May 25 and the majority of pharmacies in the borough will be operating reduced opening hours.
Dr Nick Tupper, Chair of NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We want everyone to enjoy the long-weekend and it would be a shame to spend a portion of it in a waiting room. A little forward planning now could save a great deal of inconvenience and help make sure everyone has a relaxing bank holiday.”
Although general practices will be shut, the Flying Scotsman, 8am until 8pm, centre, St Sepulchre Gate West, will remain open. Attendance will be available on an appointment basis. Alternatively, if you need health advice you can ring NHS 111.
Residents should only dial 999 and attend A&E in the case of a serious or life-threatening injury. This includes drug overdose, severe blood loss, swallowing something harmful, suspected broken bones, deep wounds, severe breathing difficulty or chest pain and loss of consciousness.
