Doctors tune in to electronic service

GPs in Doncaster are making a switch to the NHS Electronic Prescription Service.

Several GP practices in Doncaster have gone live with the electronic service and can now digitally send prescriptions direct to pharmacies, without the need for a traditional paper slip. It is designed to speed up the process and give patients access to new services.

One of the new options is the NHS Repeat Prescription Service from Pharmacy2U, which allows people to order by phone, online or using a mobile app, and have their medication delivered free to their home or workplace.

Pharmacist Dr Julian Harrison, Pharmacy2U director, said: “The move to e-prescriptions makes the process quicker and easier and is giving patients a lot more choice – such as a pharmacy closer to where they work or an online and mail-order service like ours.”

The services are being used so far at St Vincent Medical Centre, Thorne Road, The Scott Practice surgeries on Greenfield Lane, Balby, and Main Street, Sprotbrough, The White House Farm Medical Centre, Church Street, Armthorpe, Hollybush Health Centre, Church Balk, Edenthorpe, and Carcroft Health Centre, Chestnut Avenue, Carcroft.
