Boys and girls aged from seven to 13 can go along to the junior basketball club at Wombwell and join coaching sessions for those who are completely new to the sport.

The Barnsley Leaders’ junior basketball combines fun and fitness, and restarts its weekly coaching sessions for younger players on Tuesday, September 13 from 4.30pm to 6.15pm at Netherwood ALC, Wombwell.

The first session is free of charge to all newcomers, then if they enjoy the experience and return for more tuition the cost is just two pounds per week.

New players will be made very welcome and should attend at Netherwood from 4.15pm on September 13. Alternatively contact Bert Beaumont on 07932 784231 for a chat or more information. The club runs Rookies (beginners), with U11 and U13 teams who take part in local competitions.

The Leaders’ U16 team is a formidable force in national competitions and opens its twenty-two game EBL programme on September 24 with a home fixture against York Eagles at Netherwood ALC from 11am. Go along and watch for free.

Swinton Community School students Regan Webb and James Pearson Hatfield are among 10 registered players in the squad. This team faces a tough challenge in the EBL against bigger clubs with larger playing squads.
