Green light given to North Lincolnshire's housing and employment land allocation plan

The Plan sets out where new homes, jobs and businesses will be located across North Lincolnshire.

It also defines town and district shopping centre boundaries to show where future retail development should take place and future settlement development limits.

This forms part of the development plan for North Lincolnshire and will be used in making decisions on planning applications.

The Planning Inspectorate report stated that the North Lincolnshire Housing and Employment Land Allocation DPD provides an appropriate basis for the planning of the North Lincolnshire area during the period to 2026 providing a number of modifications are made.

The Main Modifications proposed are already being implemented into the Plan.

Councillor Rob Waltham, cabinet member for Health, Strategic Projects and Regeneration, said: “I am pleased to see the Planning Inspectorate has seen sense on some land where communities were clearly against development and the council’s opposition has been supported.

“This final version of North Lincolnshire’s Housing and Employment Land Allocation Development Plan Document is a result of a number of years of work that includes numerous consultation periods with local communities.

“It is a fundamental document that sets out how North Lincolnshire will be transformed over the next 10 years, which is why it was essential for us to carry out consultations throughout to ensure it met the needs of North Lincolnshire and its residents.

“Having sufficient housing and employment land is vital in the development of the North Lincolnshire economy and this plan sets out exactly that. We will heavily rely upon this plan when it comes to future planning decision making.

“North Lincolnshire has lots of potential and this plan makes the most of that. We want to put North Lincolnshire on a map as a place to live, work and play. The Plan supports this vision and will help develop North Lincolnshire - supporting local communities and businesses.”
