Green light for £5.34m sports centre in Crowle

North Lincolnshire Council has given planning approval for the £5.34m Axholme North Sports Centre in Crowle, which means building work can start on site this spring.

The Sports Centre will have a 25 metre swimming pool, a gym, dance studio, tennis courts, floodlit artificial grass pitch and refurbished sports hall.

It will be built on the Axholme Academy site on Wharf Road in Crowle.

Councillor John Briggs, ward member for Axholme North and cabinet member for Assets, Culture and Housing at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is brilliant news that the plans for Axholme North Sports Centre have been given the go-ahead. It will be a fantastic facility for residents in Crowle and surrounding areas.

“We consulted with residents on the plans to ensure it met their needs. This is a community facility so it is vital that we get it right.

“Overwhelming support has been received from local sports clubs and Axholme Academy for the Sports Centre, which shows it really is something the whole community wants.

“I am looking forward to seeing the plans coming into fruition and Isle of Axholme residents benefiting from this great multi-use Sports Centre.”
