The Durrells, a six-part ITV drama set in Corfu, It is based on Gerald Durrell’s classic trilogy of Corfu memoirs, including the much loved ‘My Family and Other Animals’.
The drama led by Keeley Hawes (Spooks, Line of Duty), set in 1935, was filmed in various parts of Corfu including Danilia, the picture-perfect traditional Corfu village, which is owned by GrecotelHotels & Resorts, Greece’s top luxury hotel group. The village is available for exclusive events and weddings, as well as tours.
Actor Alexis Georgoulis (My Life in Ruins) stayed at Grecotel Corfu Imperial, one of the island’s most luxurious hotels. Set on a private peninsula with Italian style gardens, the resort has private coves with three sandy beaches, beautiful waterfront accommodation, many with private pools, a spacious spa and exquisite dining. Alexis said of his visit: “I was very relaxed throughout my entire stay and can’t wait till the next time I have an opportunity to stay there. The atmosphere, scenery and staff were unbelievable”.
