Tiny dancers from an Isle dance school beat much older competitors to be placed in their first festival.

Four pupils from Misterton’s Everett-Fox School of Dance impressed judges at the recent Scunthorpe Music Festival.

The young dancers, aged five and six, gained third place in a ‘cabaret-style’ section of the competition despite being pitted against other dancers aged up to nine years. The successful four, all from the Isle, were Ivy Barron, Megan Needham, Tilly Snell, and Darcey Taylor. Misterton teenager, Katie Credland of the Epworth Performing Arts Academy, also did well as runner-up in her tap dance section.

Tracey Everett-Fox praised her pupils for their dance to ‘The Good Ship Lollipop’. She said: “It is unusual for a group so young to get placed in their first festival, and they were naturally nervous, but they were thrilled to get a medal and hopefully will build on that good memory. They have another festival in October.”
