Grammy-nominated Sheffield pop star to play huge festival in South Yorkshire – here’s how to get tickets

Three top singer-songwriters have been announced as the first names on the bill for an award-winning music festival in rural South Yorkshire.

Underneath The Stars, at Cinderhill Farm, Cawthorne, Barnsley, will return for the seventh time in 2020 from Friday, July 31 to Sunday, August 2, featuring live acts, performance art, crafts and family activities alongside food, drink and shopping with an independent edge.

Paul Carrack, the Grammy-nominated, Sheffield-born vocalist and musician, will appear on the first day. Marking 20 years as an independent artist, his set will likely include versions of his hits such as Squeeze’s ‘Tempted’, and Mike and the Mechanics’ ‘Over My Shoulder’.

On the Saturday, August 1, Barnsley folk artist Kate Rusby is lined up to perform a selection of traditional songs and self-penned material, while Sunday’s big name is Suzanne Vega, whose chart successes include ‘Luka’ and ‘Marlene on the Wall’.

Alongside the music, festivalgoers can expect circus acts, street food stalls and a ‘makers’ market’.

Underneath the Stars won the judge’s prize at the National Outdoor Events Association Awards 2019, where it also triumphed in the small festival of the year category.

Festival director Emma Holling said: “Building on our sell-out festival this year, we are delighted to announce our first names. To see the festival become an established event on the UK festival scene is just amazing. We look forward to announcing more acts and other exciting plans soon.”

Early bird weekend tickets cost £137.50 and day tickets start at £57.
