Residents affected by the water contamination problems in South Yorkshire will receive a £30 good will payment.
Yorkshire Water has announced this afternoon that they’ll be issuing good will payments to customers in Thorne and Moorends who’ve had to boil their water before using it over the past few days.
The firm will be contacting affected customer bill payers directly so there is no need for customer to contact Yorkshire Water to claim the payment.
3,600 properties in Thorne, near Doncaster, were told on Saturday they could use their tap water but it must be boiled first before drinking or cooking with it.

Charlie Haysom, the company’s Director of Service Delivery, said:“We understand this situation has been very inconvenient for our customers in Thorne and Moorends and that’s why we’ve decided to give them a £30 good will payment to thank them for their patience.
“We’re still asking residents to boil their water before drinking or cooking with it, and we hope to return to normal service as soon as possible.
“We’re still investigating the cause of the incident and we’re continuing to focus on the Coulman Industrial Estate as a potential source of the problem.”
