more live music could be on the horizon for a popular Hatfield pub.

Licensee Delia Prudence, 51, returned to her Doncaster roots about 14 months ago and has been working hard to make The Blue Bell a welcoming place for all her customers.

Tomorrow, the pub will be hosting a performance from renowned Rat Pack-style singer, Joe Swing. As well as bringing the sound of Frank Sinatra to the Manor Road pub, Joe is also great for one-liners and adding a touch of magic to his act.

Delia added: “Joe has a really good repertoire and a fantastic reputation.

“There are a few regulars that have seen him in much bigger venues in Sheffield and there’s a lot of interest in seeing him here.”

A former Armthorpe schoolgirl, Delia has not lived in the area for about 30 years. After running various other pubs in the Yorkshire region, she also worked as an accountant for about 15 years.

She added: “It was great to be able to bring a bit of life experience and I can certainly understand the financial side of things much better.”

Since taking over the pub, Delia has made a number of changes. “We’re making changes slowly, including new tables in the beer garden. We’ve also put a kitchen in and starting doing snacks and meals.” Among the food on offer is steak at £6.95 - which Delia is considering turning into a weekly night with a drink included - as well as lasagne and scampi, which are all served with real chips.

She added: “It’s all freshly-cooked food and we always try to accommodate customers if they want a slightly smaller portion or something a bit different.”

Sunday roasts and breakfasts are also on offer, as well as breakfasts on other days from 8.30am.
