Hundreds of people are expected to turn out to view the spectacle, and there will be some road closures, along with bus diversions, around the town centre.

This will be the twenty-third such Doncaster event, that was moved a week forward this year, to avoid a clash with England playing in the semi-final of the World Cup.

Runners come to Doncaster from around the country to take part in the races, that include a Fun Run at 7pm, a veterans' race at 7.30pm and the Open Race at 8pm, with big cash prizes up for grabs to the winners.

There will be medals for all finishers of the one mile fun run and Technical T-shirts for all who finish the 5K.

Organised by Doncaster Athletic Club, the open race is a fast three-lap run around the town centre. The route will be well marshalled with police in attendance.

Anyone who entered after June 30 must collect their number and chip from race HQ, open from 5.30pm at The Danum Hotel, in Doncaster town centre.
