Despite the inclement weather, the Christmas lights in Misterton were switched on by the village’s Citizen of the Year Joy Johnson.

Joy was nominated for the title earlier in the year after raising around £5,000 for Cancer Research, following the death of a family member from the disease.

Chairman of the Misterton Parish Council, Councillor Barry Cooper, said that he was pleased with the turnout and thanked the Lights Committee for all their hard work in producing the event.

Among the attractions were the Idle Missedatones providing the music, Pie Perfection with pie and peas and other stall holders.

Coun Cooper also thanked the church for their co-operation in organising the evening.
