The fun takes place on Sunday June 19 at Lindsey Lodge Hospice on Burringham Road in Scunthorpe and all the proceeds will go towards the charity which gives vital care to local people with life-limiting illnesses.

There will be something for everyone as it includes a 25ft climbing wall, Star Wars characters, face-painting, balloon modellers, the chance to meet a variety of animals and to top it off a fly-past by an old war plane!

Organiser Selina Doyle from Lindsey Lodge Hospice said: “We are really excited to launch this fantastic family-orientated event as we predict it will become a local leading summer event of the year.

“Not only will there be lots to keep the little ones entertained but parents can be kept busy too by browsing round a variety of stalls and fuel up on American street food and traditional ice creams.

“To enable this event to take place we have had the generous funding from North Lincolnshire Council which means we have put on even bigger and better fun for everyone!”

This family event replaces the traditional Hospice Garden Party to hopefully raise more awareness with a younger generation of supporters.

“Every penny counts to the hospice,” said Selina who has worked at the hospice for three years.

“The money raised from this will go directly towards benefitting patient care. It costs £5 for a nutritional meal for each patient and £1,200 for life-saving oxygen every single month.

“It’s such an amazing place with personal care given to each patient and it captures the hearts of most people who have been touched by it one way or another.”

Sentinel Squad UK is a Star Wars themed not-for-profit costuming organisation and they will be trooping around on the day to entertain everyone.

Stormtrooper Michel Coppens, 35, from Burringham, said: “We are all really excited to entertain people of all ages at this brand-new family event which is in aid of such a worthy, local cause.

“I enjoy being part of the group because I’m a big Star Wars fan and it’s good fun mingling with the crowds.

“The group is made up of around 40 people young and old alike from across the North of England and we’re busy most weekends throughout the year attending various events.”

The event takes place from 1pm to 4pm at Lindsey Lodge Hospice on Burringham Road in Scunthorpe and it’s free entry. Every one of all ages is welcome.
