It was full steam ahead for students from a Doncaster school who went into battle in a prestigious technology contest.
Pupils representing Ridgewood Academy were taking part in a competition at York’s National Railway Museum, where students from across the region were challenged to create an environmentally friendly model vehicle.
The team, named Speed, were bidding to win £250 for the school as well as a place in the national finals of the contest where an extra £750 and adventure holiday will be up for grabs.
The Toyota Stem Challenge, now in its ninth year, is designed to give youngsters engineering and technology challenges with more than 400 schools from across the country taking part.
Nick Freeman of Toyota said: “It is inspirational for us to challenge young minds.”
