Free tests offered to detect STIs

PEOPLE in Doncaster who have had unprotected sex are being urged to get tested for sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Tomorrow is STIQ day, a national STI awareness day, and NHS Doncaster is encouraging people who might have had unprotected sex over the Christmas period to have a free test.

It can take two weeks after unprotected sex for most STIs including chlamydia to be detected, so NHS Doncaster believe that January 14 is the right time for those who have had unprotected sex over Christmas to be tested, an NHS spokesman said.

To arrange a confidential free test, receive confidential advice or information call 01302 553111 or Doncaster contraception and sexual health services on 01302 640040.
