A popular pub, run by Helen Manning and her staff, Lock Stock & Barrel, Cross Street, has a range of drinks on offer and is gearing up for the full four weeks of the tournament and new customers are always welcome at the friendly pub.

Food on offer includes pensioners’ lunches – two courses for £4 each every Thursday – and on Sundays a carvery – standard meal £4.50 and large meal £6.

Get together with colleagues, family or friends for any occasion in the pub’s intimate surroundings.

Beers on offer include Old Speckled Hen, Strongbow Dark special edition, John Smith’s smooth, Lockie Gold lager at £2.20 per pint, Strongbow normal and of course Guinness at £3.

Helen (above) said: “We are known as a friendly pub with a pleasant atmosphere. New customers are always made to feel welcome. There are three rooms here - the snug, middle room and the main bar area. In addition a room can be hired out for Christenings, wedding receptions, funerals or any other occasion.”

She added: “We try to cater for everyone in the community. We have bands and artists playing sessions on Saturdays and we also have regular theme nights.”

The pub is open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 3pm to 11pm, Thursday, noon to 11.30pm, Fridays and Saturdays, noon to 1am and Sunday, noon to 11.30pm.

Helen further added: “I feel the Lock Stock & Barrel offers something a little bit different that includes a warm welcome, friendly staff and a good character.” Prices for Wednesday steak nights are £13-16.
