Free coffee worth £2.20 at Propa Pies Crowle cafe

A new cafe offering the tastiest homemade treats has opened in Crowle and has teamed up with the Epworth Bells for this week's great reader giveaway.

Propa Pies cafe and shop at 70 High Street will - in conjunction with your favourite weekly read - offer a free coffee worth up to £2.20 in exchange for the coupon on this page during opening hours, 8am to 4pm, from today (Thursday January 14) to Wednesday January 20.

The cafe will sell breakfasts and from 11.30am lunches including mouth-watering pies stuffed with the freshest locally sourced ingredients and other tasty homemade treats cooked daily by owner Caroline Shepherd.

In addition to her tasty pies, Caroline said she would also sell traditional meals, homemade lasagne and chilli, salads and other cold food and vegetarian options.

She added: “My pies will be sold in the cafe and shop, but there will be a lot more on offer. There will also be a board where people can advertise local events and the premises will be available for hire.”

As an added attraction there will be free wi-fi on the premises for customers and a coffee machine making hot fresh brews throughout the day.

The range of hot and cold pies Caroline offers will be encased in handmade all butter pastry and delicious options include steak in gravy, steak with caramelised onions, or creamy Stilton and rainbow peppercorn sauce.

Also in the savoury section there are fillings such as mature cheddar and potato, Cornish pasty and spicy mince, free-range chicken in a rich and tasty gravy, with homemade sage and onion stuffing, as well as chicken with gammon in a cream sauce.

Caroline, 45, has been selling her in-demand pies at farmers’ markets and elsewhere in the region for the past five years.

She said her new premises would be a great place to meet and greet, with the Crowle Women’s Institute already inquiring about using the new cafe as a meeting place.

She said: “Whenever I go to a cafe I want to have great service and tasty homemade food and that’s what I aim to provide here. I urge people to take up this offer.”
