Free cocktail offer at Funkins in Epworth

A new cocktail bar that has opened in the Red Lion in Epworth – Funkins – has team up with the Epworth Bells with a great free offer.

Using the coupon in the October 8 edition of the Epworth Bells readers can swap it for a free cocktail of their choice worth £5 when the bar is open on Friday and Saturday nights.

Owners of the famous Red Lion in Market Place, Epworth, describe the pub/restaurant as the finest steak house in the area – a reputation honed over the past 24 years.

Following flooding in 2014 major refurbishment has taken place at the pub. This has seen a major revamp with a new kitchen installed prompting owner, Beverley Smith, to say: “The newly refurbished restaurant looks absolutely beautiful, the library area is perfect for family dining.”

She said: “Funkin’s Cocktail Bar is the latest addition. It is open on Fridays and Saturdays and is strictly for the over 21s and offers a wonderful relaxed atmosphere with music playing, but you are still able to hold a conversation.

“The room is available for private hire. We also have the beautiful Heritage Suite function room on the first floor, which is ideal for smaller private parties/occasions or private dining. Put a date in your diary to visit Funkin’s on October 10 – why not come down and you can join Chris for a Northern Soul and Mowtown evening at the bar from 8pm.”

Sunday and Wednesday evenings are proving to be extremely popular at the Red Lion where two meals and a bottle of wine can be bought from only £19.95. Also there is the new Mexican Monday menu – served at lunch time and evening, which offers a tortilla basket filled with Mexican rice or spicy wedges and a choice of a range of mouthwatering fillings: Cajun vegetables,chilli con carne, barbecue pulled pork or Cajun chicken breast strips – £9.95 and choose a free drink: margarita cocktail or bottle of sol. You can also create a two or three-course luncheon for those with time to dine – a taste sensation launched later this month.

Beverley added: “Our customers tell us we serve the best Sunday lunch for miles around. Bookings for Christmas Day are going really well – we only have a few tables remaining. Our fabulous en suite bedrooms are ideal if you are having friends over.” The Red lion has something for everyone, all under one roof, so why not stop and dine?
