Former nurse from Crowle steps into governor role

A retired nurse has stepped forward to take a seat as a hospital public governor.

Beryl Allison, of Crowle, could not cut her ties to the NHS altogether and after 40 years as a registered nurse at Scunthorpe Hospital, has found herself in a new position.

Beryl went up against three other candidates to secure one hospital public governor seat in North Lincolnshire.

She said: “I have gained a huge range of relevant knowledge, clinical and management skills, from my role as a staff nurse, ward manager and night sister in order to be a governor.

“I want to support and challenge the board of directors, in informed complex decisions, to ensure robust practices are put into place. I feel I am able to listen to people and voice their concerns and praise as an ambassador of the Trust.

“Since retiring I have the time and commitment to fulfil this role and I am looking forward to getting started. I want to thank those that voted me into this position.”

Voting was open to all Trust members - anyone wanting to become a Trust member and get involved in future events can register by visiting the new members’ portal www.nlg-membersportal.co.uk/ or call (01724) 387946.
