Former Doncaster winger David Scott wins Scotland player of the year award

David Scott has become the first product of the Scotland Rugby League development pathway to win the player of the year award.

Scott, who started playing rugby league at Easterhouse Panthers, is the 12th annual winner of the Dave Valentine Award based on performances in Scotland’s international campaign in 2015.

“Davie was outstanding for us,” said Scotland head coach Steve McCormack.

“He is the perfect example to all the kids coming through, showing there is a pathway for teenage players in Scotland.”

Scott, who can play as a winger or full-back, has joined Batley from Doncaster for 2016 where he will work under John Kear, the head coach of Wales.
