Former Coronation Street star Sean Wilson is to roll into Doncaster later this year to relaunch the town’s Farmers’ Market.
Foodies from across Yorkshire are in for a treat, with ex Corrie actor Sean Wilson turned artesan cheesemaker coming to Doncaster in May.
Wilson, who played Martin Platt in the famous soap for twenty years, now dedicates his time to cooking and creating high-quality cheeses, and has worked as a chef in some of the best restaurants in the world. He will be appearing in Doncaster on May 6 to give a live cooking demonstration and officially relaunch the Farmers’ Market.
The Farmers’ Market will be held on Goose Hill in the Market Place, and will be open from 10.00am.
Visitors will be able to buy a varied mix of delicious produce including fresh meat and pies, breads, cakes and pastries, as well as honey and jams.
Cabinet member for Neighbourhoods, Councillor Joe Blackham, said: “Eating local food is good for the environment, tastes great and supports the local economy. I am pleased to welcome the Farmers’ Market back to Doncaster, and hope local people enjoy the fantastic range of local produce on offer.”
The Farmers’ Market will be back in Doncaster from April 1, with the official re-opening taking place the following month. The re-opening is another positive milestone for Doncaster Markets in 2015, which is also a finalist for ‘Best Food Market’ at the BBC Food & Farming Awards this year.
