A fundraising evening will be held on Saturday November 15 at Luddington Village Hall to mark 100 years since the outbreak of World War One.

The Great War claimed over 16 million lives, and over the next four centenary years communities are coming together to commemorate and remember those who fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom.

Entertainment for the evening will be provided by Rose, the Forces Sweetheart who last performed at the hall during the 2012 Jubilee celebrations.

Rose, who has been singing since she was a young girl, uses her talent to raise money and awareness for military charities. She performs at venues across the country.

On the night, she will sing songs from the 1940s, right up until present day.

Sam Barker, chairman of Luddington Village Hall, said: “We are delighted to welcome Rose back to Luddington and to have her support in what promises to be a very special evening.

“It’s important that we remember the sacrifice our brave men and women made for us during the war, and what better way to mark the occasion than to raise money for the Royal British Legion who continue to do so much for the serving members of the Armed Forces, as well as veterans and their families.”

The Royal British Legion was founded by veterans of the First World War who adopted the poppy as their symbol of Remembrance and hope.

Now the UK’s largest Armed Forces charity, the Legion is leading in providing direct care and support for Armed Forces and veteran families in need.

The event begins at 7pm at Luddingon Village Hall, High Street, Luddington, Crowle.
