Folk are urged to stub it out

ROTHERHAM mayor Shaun Wright is calling on people to quit smoking for the sake of their health - just like he did.

The Rawmarsh councillor and ex-smoker joined calls by the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) in encouraging people to quit cigarettes following the success of No Smoking Day last week.

He said: “I am pleased to be able to help raise the profile of the benefits of stopping smoking. As an ex-smoker myself I recognise the benefits, not only do I feel better, feel fitter and have more money in my pocket but I also don’t have the worries about the damage smoking is causing to my health.

“I don’t believe in telling people how to live their lives but I would urge every smoker to seriously consider seeking the support on offer to stop.”

Anyone who lives or works in Rotherham can use TRFT’s Stop Smoking Service. Contact them on 01709 422444.
