Flood warnings lifted in Doncaster

Three warnings which had been in place in Doncaster were removed this afternoon, with the Government saying no significant rainfall is forecast for the week ahead, but warnings remain in place this evening elsewhere in the region.

Warnings were lifted on the River Don at Fishlake; Fosterhouses and Wormley Hill; and Stainforth.

They remained in place as of 6pm this evening on the River Don and River Went at Pollington, Eskholme and Pincheon Green, and on the River Went at Topham Ferry, Sykehouse.

Announcing the end of the warning for Fishlake, one of the areas worst hit by flooding, the Government said: “River levels in the River Don are falling. With no significant rainfall forecast for the week ahead the risk of further flooding has receded.

“Pumping activities will continue in and around Fishlake this week, whilst Trundle Lane, Far Bank Lane, Plumtree Hill Road, Fishlake Nab and Westfield Road remain closed.

In Fosterhouses and Wormley Hill, and at Stainforth, it said areas of standing water and waterlogged land would ‘continue to be monitored’ as the water recedes, with Bridge Hill (Water Lane) and the River Bridge in Stainforth remaining closed.

The remaining warnings are still in place as the Government said levels remain high in the lower and tidal areas of the River Went and River Don catchments, where floodwater continues to be pumped.

People in those areas are advised that flooding is expected, with immediate action required.
