The first flight to Crete from Doncaster's airport took off this week, with the first flight to Larnaca planned for next month.
Passengers can fly from Doncaster Sheffield Airport to Crete with Thomson and First Choice.
And they will be able to fly to Larnaca in Cyprus from June 1.
The new once-a-week flights to Heraklion, Crete are one of 20 destinations provided by Thomson and First Choice from Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
Steve Gill, managing director of the airport, said: “We were delighted to welcome the first passengers for this new route to the airport.
“New routes and increased capacity is always fantastic news allowing more people to fly locally.
“The opening of The Great Yorkshire Way earlier this year makes Doncaster Sheffield Airport even easier to reach with travel time from Sheffield reduced to just 25 minutes.
“Our strong relationship with Thomson and First Choice means that we are able to bring these new routes to the region and it is great to see that people are flying off on their annual holiday from their local airport.”
Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for Thomson and First Choice, said: “Adding more capacity from Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the introduction of these new Crete and Cyprus routes demonstrates our commitment to the airport and our customers in South Yorkshire and the local area."
