Fire station gets facelift

HUMBERSIDE Fire and Rescue Service have submitted plans to give its retained station at Epworth an extension and facelift.

The Tottermire Road site was itself damaged by a blaze in June and it was unknown at the time if it was an arson attack or was caused by an electrical fault on the £160,000 fire engine.

HFRS now proposes to make the premises bigger to house a larger fire engine, and rebuild the damaged area.

Also planned is the installation of a larger roller shutter door to make it easier for fire engines to drive out when there is an emergency.

Two residents of a neighbouring property have objected to North Lincolnshire Council about the plans claiming the extension will lead to a loss of light into their property.

A decision on the matter is expected early in 2012.
