WORLDWIDE phenomenon novel Fifty Shades of Grey is flying off Doncaster shelves - and interest in the book shows no signs of stopping.
The best-selling erotic book has proved popular at stores across the town, including Waterstone’s in the Frenchgate Shopping Centre.
Waterstones and HMV have both confirmed that the book written by E.L James is selling quicker than any other book since the stores opened.
Waterstone’s manager David Cooper said: “Fifty Shades of Grey is simply a phenomenon. In all my years working in book stores I have never seen such demand for one book.
“The difference between this book and other big sellers such as the Harry Potter series and The Da Vinci Code is the popularity increase. Other books tend to have a few weeks of shifting a large amount and then the interest dwindles off. “This is not the case with Fifty Shades of Grey, it just keeps going and going.”
