And he wants the final league table to reflect that.

Second-placed Brighton’s defeat at Durham on Sunday lunchtime saw the title confirmed before Belles’ 1-0 win at Millwall Lionesses.

Doncaster conclude their season against Oxford United Women on Sunday (2pm) in a match switched from the Keepmoat Stadium to Sheffield FC.

“As a group, as a team and as individuals they’ve been absolutely fantastic all season,” said Redfearn. “I can only give them credit.

“It was a great performance on Sunday against a side that has been up there all season.

“We were aware of the score coming in but we want to finish with as many points as we can.

“We’ll try and get as many points clear as we can because I think these girls are that good that they deserve to be that many points clear.

“We’ve been the best side by a mile this season.”

Belles are seven points clear at the top and have lost just once in the league this season, winning 14 out of 17 games.

They will remain in the second tier next season after the club decided the new fully professional top flight was out of their reach financially.

“It’s an ongoing thing,” said Redfearn, looking ahead. “We’ve got to be ready for when we can have FAWSL1 status.

“We’ll keep plugging away and recruiting where we need to recruit. We’ll keep working with these players and developing them.

“They’ve been absolutely outstanding this season and we’re on a roll. We’re on a good run.”
