BUS firm First has joined Stagecoach in offering free travel to South Yorkshire job seekers in January in a bid to help people get back to work.
The Bus for Jobs scheme is a new industry initiative enabling young jobseekers to use buses free of charge for a month.
The card is available through JobCentre Plus.
It will cover 70 per cent of the country’s bus routes – providing free travel to jobseekers who have been unemployed for between three months and one year.
The scheme will cover holders of a JobCentre Plus Travel Discount Card.
Those who are eligible for the card include people claiming Jobseekers’ Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance or Income Support and actively engaged with a Jobcentre Plus adviser in returning to employment.
