Humber UTC will be one of a growing trend of popular University Technical Colleges. A UTC is a government funded school that offers a traditional curriculum but also provides other much needed specialist subjects. All UTCs work in partnership with a University and Humber UTC is proud to work alongside the University of Hull to provide high academic standards and aspirations for the future.

The school is currently recruiting both year 10 and year 12 students to join them in September 2015.

Whilst all students will study traditional GCSEs or A Levels depending on the year in which they join, they will also gain highly respected Engineering qualifications. In addition, students will also have the opportunity to work directly with well-known esteemed employers.

Humber UTC will work in partnership with numerous respected employers in the surrounding areas. These will include BAE Systems, Tata Steel, Able UK, Centrica, Clugstons, the RAF and Smart Wind. The school is also fully supported by North Lincolnshire Council.

The collection of employer partners will work closely with the school, providing real engineering projects for pupils to complete. The partnership with the employers provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable insight into roles they may wish to pursue in the future.

Sonia Allen, Project Manager of the Humber UTC, said: “The nation as a whole presently has a large deficit of trained workers with the necessary scientific and mathematical skills needed to perform many roles. But mathematical and technical skills are progressively required in many industries. Humber UTC will therefore concentrate on the STEM credentials of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths which will provide the skills needed to take up numerous specialist roles in the future.”

A unique point for Humber UTC is that students who are successful in their studies will earn a guaranteed interview with a partner employer. For those successful at A Level, a guaranteed conditional place at the University of Hull will be also offered.

Humber UTC will be situated in Scunthorpe town centre and as such, is close to excellent road, bus and train links. There are many direct buses available from local towns and villages and also further afield, so potential students can very easily take advantage of this excellent opportunity to study at Humber UTC.
